YOUR JOB PART 3: FAITHFULNESS
Faithfulness
Last time I talked to you about forgiveness and how important it is in a marriage. It is among our jobs as husbands and wives. God models forgiveness perfectly for us. He also models another one of our jobs for us. That job is faithfulness. I can always count on God. He is always there for me. If I am celebrating, He is there. If I am grieving, He is there. He promises to always be there and to walk with us through whatever we face in life. As Christians, He promises to be with us forever.
Faithfulness is an essential part of the marriage relationship. The day Nancy and I married and we stood before God and pledged our lives to each other we were saying that we would be faithful to each other. We pledged to be faithful that day and every day thereafter. There was no asterisk attached. A marriage without faithfulness will not survive. Never has. Never will.
I am to be faithful to Nancy in my thoughts, words, and deeds. I am to keep our marriage bed sacred. Being faithful to each other in a marriage relationship is essential. It’s my job.
How important is faithfulness to you in your relationship?
