The Bottom Line
This month we’ve focused on money. The two podcasts with Chris Brown on “God’s Plan for Marriage and Money” and “Debts’ Toll on Marriage” were amazing. Chris is such a great leader, and it was an honor to have him join us. There were three short podcasts with the theme “Money Tips That Saved My Marriage,” and our AM podcast team had three podcasts focused on your marriage and money. Finally, there were two Overtime podcasts breaking down the shows with Chris Brown. In total, there were ten podcasts this month that all focused on marriage and money. If you missed one, listen in on iTunes and share it with others. We also have had great social media posts, blogs, and new videos on the Awesome Marriage YouTube channel.
So, to use a finance term, here is our “bottom line.” If you are having financial problems in your marriage, we want to help. We know that these issues train-wreck many marriages every year, and we do not want yours to be one of those. From a counseling perspective, I believe financial problems are similar to other marriage problems. If we don’t address them, they will only get worse; but if we do address them, we take the first step to solving the problem. Sure, keeping on top of your finances takes work, but that work is worth it. Can you imagine a marriage where you are creating margin with your money, eliminating debt, and not fighting over money? It can happen.
In some marriages, one of you is ready to address the issues while the other is not. My counsel is to wait on your spouse while praying for God to help you both desire oneness in your approach to finances. It’s often helpful to have a financial advisor who can guide you through the process as an objective third person.
