Last time we talked about our job as husband--to be a leader. The question for today is this: If someone is the leader, who is the follower? The answer is pretty obvious. It is the wife. Now some of you have your hand on the mouse ready to click off. You may be thinking that Dr. Kim usually does a good job but today he has crossed a line. Actually, it would be easy for me to agree with you. I mean, if this follower idea was just something I dreamed up, you could probably argue me out of it. The problem is that I did not dream it up. The problem is that it is part of God’s plan for marriage.
How did we get to the point that it is so hard for wives to follow their husbands? My opinion is that it is because as husbands we have not done a very good job of leading. I think God’s plan works like this. As a husband, if I seek God’s wisdom inleading my family and if I listen to my wife and value her opinion and input and if I lead as a servant THEN I think it is pretty easy for a wife to follow. After all, it is her job.
Wives, what makes it hard or easy for you to follow your husband’s lead?
