"Love Does" - Post by Awesome Marriage Singles Leadership Team

I spent a lot of time over the past eight years of my life looking for love. Love is such a powerful force. There’s something so special about love, that we read books and blogs about love, go to movies about love, talk with our friends about love, and spend time daydreaming about love. In my search for love, I missed something important about love. My life changed when my friend, Kyler placed the book, , in my hands. Bob Goff, the author says that love doesn’t do well when it stays locked in our minds. Instead of loving people in theory, Bob challenges us to do love. Because love washes the dishes, and love writes a letter. Love surprises people with a party, and love pursues a woman whole-heartedly. Love says, “I’m with you” and joins someone on their adventure. Love is full of whimsical joy, and love faces fears. It is simple isn’t it?

We all want an awesome marriage. We all want a great love story. If you’re single like I am, this is a great opportunity! Start doing love. I had no idea how much fun I was missing out on until I started doing love. Buy the people at your bank some ice cream and throw them a party. Ask a widow if you can make cookies with her. Serve someone who is in need. Place a book in someone’s hands. Do something you’re afraid of doing. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8,

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

Jesus says in John 13:34-34,  "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,  if you love one another."

We could spend our lives looking for love, or thinking about love. Even better, we can live love. Because love does.

What are some ways you could do love this week?

By the way, greetings from Namibia,
